The beaches of Santa Teresa Gallura
Santa Teresa Gallura, located in the extreme north of Sardinia and only 12 km south of Bonifacio in Corsica, is characterised by the most evocative beaches in Sardinia.
Thanks to its privileged position, every day you can choose a different beach sheltered from the wind.
We’ve decided to describe the 8 most beautiful beaches of this wonderful and enchanting area.
They’re all partly free and with sunbeds and umbrellas with private management; they also have paid parking.
Rena Bianca
Just 100 metres from the hotel, the beach of Santa Teresa is one of the most enchanting in Gallura. At the extreme northern tip of Sardinia and only 12 km south of Bonifacio (Corsica), the fine white sand (“Rena” in Sardinian) frames a turquoise sea with pink reflections.
The clear and shallow water make it ideal for children too. Rena Bianca is both free and equipped (contact us for information) to satisfy all your comfort needs; in fact, you have the option of renting sunbeds and umbrellas (limited availability) and regenerating in the refreshment points.
Capo Testa
Just 4 km from Santa Teresa Gallura, along the isthmus which leads to the Capo Testa peninsula, there are two wonderful beaches which, thanks to their position, allow you to enjoy the calm sea in any wind conditions.
You can choose between the Rena di Ponente “Due Mari Beach” if there is a northerly or north-easterly wind, or the Rena di Levante “Zia Colomba Beach” in the event of a westerly or mistral wind. Located to the east, it’s surrounded by the greenery of the Mediterranean scrubland and offers colours ranging from blue to emerald green. The beach is characterised by granite rocks worn smooth by the wind and abandoned columns on the surface of the water. It was here that the Roman colony of Tibula stood, as well as an ancient Roman quarry, whose granite was used to build important buildings (including the Pantheon).
The Rena di Ponente “Due Mari Beach” located to the west offers turquoise waters; its sandy bottom which slopes gently and is shallow for dozens of metres is suitable for children to bathe in. Surrounded by rocks and small dunes, it gives rise to suggestive scenery embellished by the Mediterranean greenery.
La Marmorata
Rena Majore
Rena Majore beach, just 15 minutes by car from the Hotel in the direction of Castelsardo, is a corner of Sardinia which has remained wild. Set among thick Mediterranean scrubland, dunes and scenic rocks; an evocative spectacle for the eyes and for the soul, so much so that some scenes of the new Disney film “The Little Mermaid” were shot here, along with various advertisements for well-known Italian brands.
Valle dell'Erica
Located about 15 kilometres from Santa Teresa, in the direction of Palau. Very beautiful beach, from which you can enjoy the view of the archipelago of La Maddalena. The coast is sandy with small grains of granite from which large boulders worn smooth by the wind emerge which enclose some small natural pools.
The sea is crystal clear and the seabed is quite high; numerous rocks make the inlet more picturesque.
Admission is mostly free, ideal for people who love tranquillity.
Conca Verde
Also towards Palau you’ll find this smaller beach. It’s surrounded by thick Mediterranean scrubland and marvellous maritime pines which will allow you to spend the hottest hours in complete relaxation. The sand is golden and some rocks emerge from the often-calm sea. The beach is equipped with a refreshment point, rental of deckchairs, umbrellas, pedal boats and rafts which you can take to discover the nearby coves.
Santa Reparata
4 km from Santa Teresa, the beach with fine sand is framed by a coloured cliff. Blue and green are the man colours of the water. The beautiful seabed is a destination for lovers of diving and snorkelling.
